The 3 finished pillars

Last Weekend i painted 3 pillars at the university In Ålborg Denmark. I had two days to do the job, all the pillars was wrapped in a 7 meter high plastic cabinet to prevent any spray fumes from floating out in the room. That made a limited workspace wich only allowed me to drive around in circles with the lift, that just only could fit inside the cabinet. What made extremely difficult was that when ever i had the need of going down with the lift to look at the work from distance it was impossible due to the fact that they where covered up. And all so painting a round cylinder shaped object make it totally impossible to see and to shape any kind of motiv that nobody will ever be able to see as a whole.
All the 3 pillars now finished at The university of Aalborg Denmark , hardest Job i have Éver done , no better Photo Than this impossible to document!

Catalogue and publishing BWNC 2016 in Dresden

Just received this nice catalogue in the mail.

Artist and writer Jens Besser have collected documentation and texts from the artists from the BWNC  artist group. The catalogue tells the story about how BWNC was founded and what it means personally for the individual member, being a part of BWNC. 

Featured artist is VILX from France, Aris from Italy, Anders Reventlov from Denmark and Jens Besser from Germany.

Som kunstner med baggrund i graffiti miljøet. Har jeg i mange år brugt meget energi på at adskille de to verdener. På et tidligt stadie i min kariere kom jeg frem til den konklusion at de to ting, graffit og kunst ikke kan kombineres. Jeg tendere stadig på nogle områder at argumentere for dette synspunkt. I de senere år før, BWNC, Begyndte jeg at acceptere det faktum at graffiti har været, og er en kæmpe del af mit liv. Derfor vil det også til tider vil være en naturlig del af min kunstpraksis. Kunstnere jeg finder interesante er oftest kunsntere med baggrund i grafiit miljøet som bruger de aktivitiske strategier fra graffiti i deres kunstpraksiser. For mig personligt er dette gruppe samarbejde en ny og spændende måde at blande de to verdenenr på. Jeg ser det som en ny platform hvor jeg kan afprøve ideer, som jeg ikke vil kunne afprøve andre steder. Jeg har stadig en føelse af at det er ekstremt problematisk og virkelig svært for mig at navigere i hvordan jeg skal arbejde i BWNC konteksten, det er en af grundene til det føles så rigtig at gøre. Det første møde i Magdeburg fængslet til Sinlichkeit festivalen for Samtidskunst arbejdede jeg med en tegning på væg og viste tegninger indenfor i et mindre udstillings rum. Mit dilemma og udfordringer er at forsøge at finde et sted hvor jeg kan stå med føderne i begge lejre. Under BWNC udstillingen i Dresden fandt jeg ud af BWNC kan være det sted. Et sted hvor der er plads til at eksperimentere et sted hvor der kan testes ting fra både graffiti verdenen og kunstverdenen og også et sted hvor der er plads til det hele. Både min kunst akademiske baggrund og min graffiti baggrund. Jeg er spændt på at se hvad arbejdet som gruppe kan udvikle sig til, og jeg er sikker på at det kan være et sted hvor vi alle i fælleskab kan skabe og udvikle noget nyt sammen. Vigtigst af alt skal vi have det sjovt drikke øl og vente på at vi hver især for malet vores vægge færdige før vi kan komme videre. Jeg er ekstremt glad for at BWNC er blevet dannet og jeg er spændt på at se hvordan det kommer til at udvikle sig i fremtiden.

As an artist with a background in graffiti I have used a lot of energy on separating the two worlds. I came to a conclusion at an early point in my art career that the graffiti world and the art world can not be mixed together. I still tend to argument for that. In the recent years before, BWNC I started to embrace the fact that the graffiti was and is such a big part of my life and therefore at times also a big part of my art practice. Artists that I find inspiring and or interest- ing are often artists with a link to a graffiti background, which they use in a activistic way in their contemporary art practices. Personally it is for me a great new way of mixing the worlds working in the group of BWNC. I see it as new platform where I can test ideas I can not try anywhere else. But I still find it truly problematic and really hard for me to figure out what to do when working in the context of BWNC, that is reason why it makes so much sense to do. The first meeting at the Magdeburg prison I worked with drawing on a wall, and having drawings inside a smaller exhibition room. My dilemma, and challenge is to find a place where I can stand with both feet at the same time. During the BWNC exhibition in Dresden, I think that the BWNC group could be and can be, that place. A place for experimenting, a place for test- ing out things from both worlds and also a place where there is room for everything. Both my art academic background and my graffiti background. I believe and truly hope that working as and being a part of the BWNC we all together can develop something new. And most important of all have fun, drink beer and wait on each other finishing the last work, before we can move on. I am extremely happy that the BWNC has been formed. And I can not wait to see where it goes from here.

Interview with Westend Walls Copenhagen

Painted a wall at the Urban Contemporary art gallery WEST END WALLS in Copenhagen Denmark.

I was recently invited to paint at the out door Urban Contemporary art gallery West end walls in Copenhagen. I have been following the project for some time and always wanted to contribute. So i am really happy i finally got the chance to do it. The concept of the gallery is that every second month they invite two artist to exhibit on the two walls of the gallery. 

Now watch the process and the end result here below. The wall is continuing ongoing process of fragmented drawings i collect through my work while painting and drawing on walls i collect them and bring them and use them as a way of creating a image i have no control over during the process. When the space is filled i am finished and i have created new pieces of actions on the papers that now leave holes in the image.

Ultimate frustration! found in the forrest intoxicated by a lot of alcohol. all of a sudden made the colors blue red and white pop up in my head, and there they are very present. Raisning all sorts of questions! Need to get some answers need to start, figuring everything out! What to do with these colors! Today i made a silver and black drawing on a wall! In the colors that i love so very much! It felt good, but it didn't get me closer to any answers! 

But i am happy!

Friday the 18th the newest exhibition in Format Artspace opened. It features all the artist represented by the galleri. Each artist participated with one work. All works is on paper. As a special thing, all works no matter size, and or material cost the same. And if you buy something you can take it with you right away! Thanks to everybody who  showed up. 

And thank you to Format for making this possible!

34 danske kunstnere og kunstnergrupper, der har papiret som fællesnævner, har hver lavet et nyt værk til gruppeudstillingen “One Size Fits All”. Formatet varierer, men prisen er den samme – alle værker kan erhverves for 1400 kr

.Udstillingen er blevet til udfra et ønske om at understrege galleriets målsætning: at præsentere værker af høj kunstnerisk kvalitet, men som er mulige at erhverve sig uden at skulle leve af havregrød flere måneder efter.

Så drømmer man fx. om en lille tegning af Morten Schelde, et tryk af Carl Krull, en lille pap-kvadrat af Camilla Thorup, en tørret og presset blomst af Jesper Aabille eller en collage af Sidse Carstens, så er der med “One Size Fits All” rig mulighed for at både se og købe. Værkerne kan købes og tages med med det samme, så udstillingen vil I løbet af perioden ændre form og ophængning.

I am part of this show at Neun Görlitz curated by Jens Besser

Featuring Artists who have been involved in the Lack Streiche kleber, Urban-Art festival in Dresden. Now the Urban art festival travels to spread the ideas and the documentation about the project. I am extremely happy to be a part of it. Special thank you goes out to the curator and organizer Jens Besser for inviting me in the first place. This show is on until the 2. of december 2016

Lost youth and old farts

It all continues.The art, Drawing, the graffiti all that I have been using all spare time and all free time on in around 25 years. Last night i painted a wall in a small suburb. Two teenagers was hanging out, in a dark corner. where there was no lights. A boy and a girl. The boy talked constantly to the girl in a slow monotone hash smoked voice! It was so annoying I felt like going there tell him to shut up! At some point he came creeping out the darkness with red sprained eyes and asked me if i worked there? I said no. He asked how much i got paid for painting? A question that persons of all ages everywhere i have painted always seem to be interested in. I said nothing. He looked at me, with a suspicious look. Maybe thinking why an adult person would do anything like painting a wall in the night in his spare time for absolutely no reason than just the one reason: I want to do it. And for the fun and joy of it. That was my response: I just do this for fun. That seemed to be to much for him to grasp. And he turned around and crawled back to his dark corner, to his monotone preaching. That i will never know what was about. They finally left and i could relax and paint undisturbed. 

Later this week i met with my friend Solkongens Nabo (The king of the Suns neighbour) We went around looking at abandoned spaces in searching for some urban wasteland where we could have some fun painting. For me a familiar way of spending a afternoon for, Solkongens Nabo, not so familiar, at least not in the context of artistic expression. We found a place where we thought that to old farts could paint undisturbed. We went home packed our stuff, went back and started to work in complete darkness and silence. Really funny to stand a place and create something. Something that you can't see and something that will never bee seen by anybody in real life. Created a place of the grid that does not exists anywhere. It was really nice. And Solkongens Nabo was really happy, it was the first time he had done something like that. And he felt that now his artistic platform had developed. On our way back i asked him if he could believe that i have been doing this for about 20 years. His reply was yes totally!
